BACKGROUND
Established in 2000, Acquired Brain Injury Ireland (formerly the Peter Bradley Foundation) was set up to provide a range of pioneering, flexible and tailor-made services for people with Acquired Brain Injury.
Barbara O’Connell (Peter Bradley’s sister) and her husband Maurice O’Connell, along with members of Peter’s family, responded by forming the Peter Bradley Foundation in direct response to Peter’s particular situation. In partnership with the HSE East Coast, Peter’s house, Anvers was renovated and specially adapted for him and two other men with Acquired Brain Injury
The Foundation has gone on to develop services nationwide.
In March 2009 the board of directors and the management team decided to change the name of the Foundation to Acquired Brain Injury Ireland. Although the name has changed the ethos of the Foundation will continue. We will always be aware of Peter’s own personal story and how it has formed the organisation we have today.
Acquired Brain Injury Ireland aspires to Maximise Ability, Change Lives and to be the best there is for people with and affected by ABI.
