Munster v Connacht - Charity Match St. Stephen's Day

Munster Rugby have nominated the Munster v Connacht game in Thomond Park Stadium on St Stephens Day as a “Charity match” with the objective of raising as much funds as possible for their three nominated charities.

Munster Rugby will donate a fixed amount and an additional €1 from every programme sold on the day. As an incentive to purchase the €5 programme our sponsors have donated some amazing prizes that will be won on the night. Fifteen programmes will feature a winning ticket and a number of the prizes will be raffled in the Thomond Suite. All raising additional funds for charity.

All money raised will be split equally between Acquired Brain Injury Ireland, Motor Neurone Disease, and CROSS.

Acquired Brain injury Ireland is nominated Munster Rugby Charity of the Year!

Acquired Brain Injury Ireland is delighted to announce their new relationship with Munster Rugby as their Charity of the year; along with C.R.O.S.S. (funding Cancer research at St. James’s Hospital) and Motor Neuron Research Ireland.

Nominated by ABI Ireland ambassador John Fogarty, and supported by current Munster player Denis Leamy, ABI Ireland are honoured to be chosen as an affiliated charity and look forward to working with the team at Munster Rugby in the coming months. Throughout 2012 we will be working with Munster Rugby to raise both funds, and the profile, of Acquired Brain Injury Ireland. ABI Ireland host Acquired Brain Injury Information and Education Day, Citywest Hotel, Dublin

Acquired Brain Injury Ireland has teamed up with some of the leading ABI Neuro-Rehabilitation specialists within Ireland and the UK to bring about a one-day education and information event, ABI and the Carer, to those caring for someone living with an Acquired Brain Injury.

Building on the success of a two year programme ‘Brain Aware’, carried out by ABI Ireland nationwide between 2009-2011, this one-day event has provided family carers and Healthcare Professionals the opportunity to take part in a mixture of presentations and workshops, addressing important issues related to Acquired Brain Injury Neuro-Rehabilitation, and the role or the carer.

GAA and ABI Ireland Launch Concussion Awareness Campaign

The GAA Backs ABI Ireland’s Mind Your Head Campaign Educating Players about the Signs and Symptoms of Concussion

The GAA has teamed up with brain injury specialists Acquired Brain Injury Ireland to back their Mind Your Head campaign; educating players about the signs and symptoms of Concussion, through an Educational Concussion Poster Campaign. This poster campaign will be distributed to over 2,000 GAA clubs throughout the country, reaching out to all players of every age and level.

BRAIN AWARE - Update

Phase 1 ending - but Brain Aware to continue

The current phase of the Brain Aware Family Carer Training Project, funded by the Government through the Dormant Accounts funds and managed by Pobal, is due to end this Autumn. We are thrilled to have recently secured Government funding to help sustain ongoing provision of selected Carer training over the next three years.

ABI Ireland plan to open new residential service in Drogheda, Co. Louth

We are delighted to be now working to develop a new Specialist Community Neuro-Rehabilitation Residential Service in Drogheda, Co. Louth. A recruitment campaign is now underway to transfer staff internally and to recruit a Clinical Psychologist and a team of Rehabilitation Assistants to work with our Regional Manager and Local Services Manager. It is in the hands of the government to protect the future rehabilitation of those with an acquired brain injury. As a society and by advocating effectively, your support and commitment to these persons not only benefits their own lives, but also the lives of their loved ones who are caring for them on a continuous basis.
