Are you ready to get back to basics and raise some funds to support the work of Acquired Brain Injury Ireland? We are looking for people who want to support brain injury survivors by doing something a little bit different.

Can you survive a night in the mountains? You will meet on Day One to get briefed on the challenge ahead: survive for the next 24 hours in the wilderness with no tents!

The first part of the challenge is a series of workshops where you will learn essential skills you’ll need to get through the challenge:

  • Shelter Building
  • Navigation
  • Fire Starting
  • Wilderness First Aid/Rescue Skills
  • Leave No Trace / Environmental Issues

Once all workshops are completed, the group start their trek to reach high camp, a remote and wild site in the mountains. When you reach camp, your first priority will be to build shelters and start a fire. Ration packs are issued to all participants, and you will prep a tasty camp dinner before sitting around the campfire for stories. Participants bed down for the night in their shelters.

Next morning, we break camp after breakfast. We leave nothing behind and return the campsite to the way we found it before descending back down to our start point and our journey home.

>Sleeping mat

>Rainwear

>Headtorch

>Basic first aid kit

When does the 24-Hour Survival Challenge take place?

The event takes place on Saturday 07 October, 2023. If for any reason it can’t go ahead on that day, it will be arranged for a later date.

Are there any registration or participation fees?

There is a €50 registration fee for the 24-Hour Survivor Challenge. We require you to fundraise a minimum of €450 before the event.

How will Acquired Brain Injury Ireland use the funds I have raised?

The money you raise will make a big difference to the 120,000 people in Ireland living with a disability following an acquired brain injury. These funds are essential to our variety of services for people living with a brain injury as well as their families and their carers.
