Typically when people hear rehabilitation they think of physical rehab and helping people to walk again. With a brain injury, while there can be physical deficits – there are also many changes that are not physical or visible. Such as changes to how you think or socialise or your ability to remember things.
Neuro-rehabilitation includes the psychological and social issues that are common after brain injury and other neurological conditions. The nature of neuro-rehab is a very inclusive process that puts you and your family right at the centre of the rehabilitation plan. At Acquired Brain Injury Ireland, we call it a bio-psycho-social model which supports you with biological, psychological and social aspects after your brain injury.
Our model of rehabilitation always promotes the highest level of independence for you and it supports you to rebuild your self-esteem, confidence and feel positive about your life. Your Individual Rehabilitation Plan is the process in action.
