We were delighted to have been selected to present at the 15th World Congress on Brain Injury and to have the opportunity to highlight the vital importance of community neuro rehabilitation in Ireland on a global stage. The 15th World Congress on Brain Injury took place from 19 – 22 March 2025, in Montreal, Canada. Organised by the International Brain Injury Association (IBIA), the World Congress on Brain Injury is the largest gathering of international professionals working in the field of brain injury.
Acquired Brain Injury Ireland present at the World Congress on Brain Injury 2025
On Thursday, 20 March, Acquired Brain Injury Ireland CEO, Dr Karen Foley shared our work as part of a symposium focusing on person-centred rehabilitation. The presentation, titled ‘Everyone, everywhere, all the time’, explores how person-centred leadership can achieve world class rehabilitation.
Karen attended the symposium alongside two international collaborators and brain injury experts, from Australia and France.
In addition, two posters developed by colleagues at Acquired Brain Injury Ireland were presented at the Congress. These posters explain the outcomes and impact of our Transitional Rehabilitation Model, with specific reference to our service in County Sligo, and look at our approach to Public and Patient Involvement in ABI research.
The World Congress on Brain Injury takes place bi-annually. The 14th World Congress on Brain Injury was hosted in Dublin in 2023 in partnership with Acquired Brain Injury Ireland.
