2025 Training and Employment Programme for Families and Carers now open for registration

This latest series of the programme has been made possible through funding from the Dormant Accounts Fund. It seeks to deliver tailored training and support to address the practical and emotional challenges met by Family Carers or former carers that are transitioning to employment, training or education. A previous participant of the programme spoke very highly of Facilitator, Sara Prodoni and the positive impact the training had on their family’s lives:
This is an amazing programme that supports us in line with our lives with ABI (Acquired Brain Injury). The presenters were excellent, and Sara was such a great help making herself available at all times. The life coach sessions assisted me in gaining confidence to apply for benefits I have now received. This was a very tough process for me and I couldn't have done it without the support of Sara. It has had a huge impact on our family’s security financially and I am truly grateful. It will allow me to access supports and care needed, training and developing my life. It has given me hope in moving on with life with ABI.
The 6-week online course beginning on 4th March will cover a range of topics including career exploration, ICT skills, CV and interview skills, recruitment, advocacy and work readiness. It will feature presentations and Q&A sessions, share information and resources that Carers can use to explore their options as they journey towards a new education pathway or employment. The 6-week series will take place quarterly throughout 2025.
Additionally, as part of On With Training & Employment – Building Brighter Futures, monthly online workshops will be offered to support the wellbeing and mental health of participants. Workshops will focus on building confidence, assertive communication, managing stress, and exploring personal values and passions.
On With Training & Employment – Building Brighter Futures also offers financial support towards personal skill development, one-to-one guidance counselling sessions and 24 months of continuous support for each participant.
19,000 people in Ireland acquire a brain injury each year. Through our community-based neuro-rehabilitation services, we help as many of them as possible to return to leading more independent lives. Brain injuries happen overnight, often with life-changing and lifelong impacts for the person and their family. Our On With Life Programme – which now has three strands, including On With Training & Employment – was established to provide information, education and support to those living with or caring for a loved one with an acquired brain injury. In turn, the programme aims to reduce isolation, anxiety and the burden of care.
