It is with great sadness we announce the passing of CEO Barbara O’Connell’s brother, Peter Bradley. Peter passed quietly and peacefully this morning at Blackrock Hospice in Dublin. The story of ABI Ireland and its development, to transform the lives of thousands of people and families, is intrinsically linked to Peter Bradley.
The organisation was founded 23 years ago by ABI Ireland CEO Barbara O’Connell, and her husband Maurice O’Connell, when it evolved out of work she did to develop a rehabilitation pathway for her brother, Peter after he acquired a brain injury.
The organisation is called Peter Bradley Foundation, and trades as Acquired Brain Injury Ireland. Today it serves approximately 1,200 people with acquired brain injury each year as well as their families and employs 400 people.
Peter will be very fondly remembered by his family and friends, and by the staff who worked so closely with him over the 23 years he lived in Anvers in Dun Laoghaire.
