Interim Community/Case Manager for Waterford and Wexford, Natasha Sinnott speaks about the importance of rehabilitation services like the Wexford Clubhouse:

“”

The Clubhouse serves as a vital community space for the 32 individuals with brain injuries who regularly participate in its activities. For many, the Clubhouse is essential, offering a social environment where they can connect with others who understand their experiences. Here, they take part in rehabilitation activities that support their recovery, helping them to rediscover their confidence, develop new skills, and rebuild their independence. Over time, they forge lasting friendships and gain the courage to face their new lives.

Our Wexford Clubhouse opened its doors on Rosslare Road in 2015 and now offers support to over 30 people living with an acquired brain injury. Brain injury survivor, Heather’s life was completely changed when she acquired a brain injury. The clubhouse provided a safe space for her to rebuild her life:

“”

When I first came to the Clubhouse, I was made to feel welcome and knew this was a community I felt comfortable with, people I could be myself around. After my brain injury, I was lost, and ABI Ireland has helped me. They have helped me get a job, I have learned new skills with the different activities, had some great experiences, and met some great people. All of which has supported me with my rehab.

The clubhouse team and members have experienced many achievements since 2015, including their most recent win at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2024, which you can read more about here.

It seems 2024 was a year of success for the clubhouse, with the service receiving a very generous donation of €5,000 in December from Ciarán Donegan, director of IRS Financial Services Limited based in Enniscorthy. The donation was made by Mr Donegan in memory of his father, Michael, and his mother, Ellen, who suffered a stroke during her lifetime and it will make a huge difference to our Wexford Clubhouse members. You can read more about this donation here.

We would like to thank everyone who has supported our clubhouse over the years. We could not provide essential services like this clubhouse without your support.
