Mayor Of Wexford Visits Our Wexford Clubhouse

We were delighted to welcome the Mayor of Wexford, Councillor George Lawlor to our Wexford Clubhouse recently. Cllr Lawlor congratulated the members on their incredible win at the Fleadh Cheoil 2024 Window Display Competition, where they were awarded the overall prize of €1,000.

The clubhouse provides a safe place for those living with a brain injury in and around Wexford. Members can participate in various rehabilitative activities, access resources, and build social connections.

During the visit, the Mayor met with clubhouse members and the local ABI Ireland team, learning about the services offered by the clubhouse. Weekly activities and workshops take place at the clubhouse to help survivors regain independence, develop new skills, and find a sense of belonging within the community. Cllr Lawlor praised the efforts of the clubhouse members and staff in creating a positive and empowering space for brain injury survivors, highlighting the importance of such initiatives:

“”

It is wonderful to be here and witness the impact this clubhouse has on its members. I can truly see the benefits of a service like this for brain injury survivors, providing a social space and a place of necessary rehabilitation.

Cllr Lawlor also congratulated each of the members on their recent win at the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann Window Display Competition. To celebrate the Fleadh Cheoil taking place in Wexford this year, local businesses were invited to create a window display centred around the theme ‘Wexford Welcomes Fleadh 2024’. After spending 3 weeks on a very impressive display, our Wexford Clubhouse members were awarded the overall prize of €1,000.
He was intrigued by the story behind the beautiful display, and more specifically, the use of colour and music to emphasise the benefits of creative arts for rehabilitation after a brain injury.
